The machine has detected a problem somewhere in the water circuit, between the tank and the brewing side, and halted. The 800 Series manual lists a single owner step for this message: unplug for sixty seconds and plug back in; a message that comes back after that points to a part inside the housing. Bosch coffee machine display · also shown as Error in water system. Unplug the appliance, wait one minute and plug in again. What to do when Error in water system shows on the coffee machine ### Kind of code Water and tank The machine asked for water and did not get what it expected: the tank is empty, sits off its seat or has a float the sensor cannot see, air is trapped in the line, or the flowmeter counted too little water passing in the time allowed. On a plumbed unit the same message can mean a closed shutoff, a kinked supply hose or a clogged inlet valve. Reseating a full tank and running a rinse clears the simple cases; a pump that hums with nothing moving is a visit. ### Usually leads to Coffee machine pump repair Testing and replacing the pump that drives water through the coffee, with the flowmeter that counts each cup and the valves beside it. ### Shows up as What a Coffee Machine Error Code or Warning Symbol Means A coffee machine error code may show as a short string of letters and numbers, a flashing symbol for water, grounds or the brew unit, a short sentence on a text display, or a machine that stops with one light blinking. ### Make Bosch Bosch espresso makers get a home visit that separates a stubborn reminder on the display from a part that has actually worn. ### Source Bosch 800 Series VeroCafe (TPU6) Use and Care Manual, Troubleshooting Appears in the troubleshooting table of Bosch's 800 Series VeroCafe (TPU6) owner manual; on the 500 Series the general restart request reads Please restart appliance instead. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Bosch's own guidance for Error in water system on its coffee machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Unplug the machine from the wall and wait at least sixty seconds. 02 While it is unplugged, lift the tank out, check that it is filled with fresh still water and that any filter sits pressed straight down, then set the tank back firmly. 03 Plug in, let the machine rinse, and pour one hot water; if the same message appears again, book a visit. ### Still there? It usually turns into [coffee machine pump repair](https://coffeemachinerepair.center/services/coffee-machine-pump-repair/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do It is not the Please fill the water tank prompt, which names the tank and clears when the tank is seated and full. A puddle under the machine is a separate leak complaint and needs the plug pulled before anything else. ## What you may notice with it. Unplug the machine from the wall and wait at least sixty seconds. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Is the water tank on my Bosch 800 Series broken if it shows Error in water system? Not usually. The message covers the whole water path, and a tank that is cracked or leaking would normally show as water on the counter first. The unplug step clears many one-off cases. ### Can a water filter trigger Error in water system on a Bosch VeroCafe? Bosch lists air in the filter as a reason for drinks not pouring, so reseating a filter that was just fitted is worth doing during the minute the machine is unplugged. If the message still returns without the filter in place, the cause is elsewhere. ### What does a technician look at for this Bosch message? The parts along the water circuit: the pump, the flowmeter that measures what the pump moves, the heater and the valves and hoses between them. Those sit inside the housing, which is why a repeat message is a visit rather than a home fix. --- **[Read on the site: Bosch 800 Series VeroCafe: Error in water system](https://coffeemachinerepair.center/error-codes/bosch-error-in-water-system/)** **[Book a visit with CoffeeMachineRepair.center](https://coffeemachinerepair.center/schedule/)**
