What Please run Calc'nClean program!
actually means.

Calc'nClean runs the descale and the cleaning cycle in one pass. The machine schedules it from the hardness setting and the water it has used, so a wrong hardness level, an old filter, the wrong tablets or a cycle that was stopped halfway can make the prompt return long before it should.

What to do when Please run Calc'nClean program! shows on the coffee machine

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Bosch's own guidance for Please run Calc'nClean program! on its coffee machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Test the water with the strip from the box and set the matching hardness in the menu.

02

Fit a new water filter if the current one is old, then run the full Calc'nClean cycle with Bosch's own tablets without stopping it.

03

If a cycle was interrupted, run the Special rinsing care cycle so the counter resets; a prompt that still returns after a full cycle is worth a visit.

Cleared?

The message is gone, and the machine grinds, heats and pours a full cup again with no new part. If it comes back within the week, or the descale or filter reminder returns straight after a finished cycle, say so in the booking.

What not to do

It is not the locked Descaling overdue message, which blocks drinks until the descale is done. A reminder that appears on schedule is normal care, not a problem.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

The machine is doing what it was set to do, not wearing out: a rinse that runs through the spouts at switch-on and switch-off, a descale or filter reminder counting the water that has passed through, an energy-save mode that darkens the screen after a quiet spell, or a demo mode left on from the showroom that lights the keys and pours nothing. No part is needed; finishing the cycle the display asks for, or a key sequence from the manual, ends it.

Questions
about Please run Calc'nClean program!.

Can I clear Please run Calc'nClean program! myself?
Test the water with the strip from the box and set the matching hardness in the menu.
Can I use vinegar for Calc'nClean on my Bosch?
No. Bosch names incorrect or too little descaling agent as a cause of the prompt returning, and asks for its own tablets only.
My Bosch asks for Calc'nClean every week. Is something broken?
Usually the hardness setting is higher than your water, or a filter was left in past its life. Set the hardness from the test strip and fit a new filter before suspecting a part.
What happens if I keep skipping Calc'nClean on a Bosch VeroCafe?
The machine eventually locks itself until it is descaled. Scale also cuts the flow and the milk froth, so the skipped cycle shows up in the cup too.

Still showing Please run Calc'nClean program!?

Three things make the booking useful: the message or number exactly as the display showed it, the full model number from the plate, and whether the machine still grinds and pours at all. Send those and the likely part can be looked up before the van leaves.
