What PLEASE DESCALE!
actually means.

PLEASE DESCALE! is a reminder built on the water hardness you set at installation. The machine keeps making coffee, but scale is building in the heater and lines, and the descale program from the menu clears both the scale and the reminder.

What to do when PLEASE DESCALE! shows on the coffee machine

Kind of codeMode, not a failure

The machine is doing what it was set to do, not wearing out: a rinse that runs through the spouts at switch-on and switch-off, a descale or filter reminder counting the water that has passed through, an energy-save mode that darkens the screen after a quiet spell, or a demo mode left on from the showroom that lights the keys and pours nothing. No part is needed; finishing the cycle the display asks for, or a key sequence from the manual, ends it.

Usually leads toNo repair

Open the menu, choose DESCALE and follow the display: empty the tank, add Fulgor's recommended descaler and water, and place a 2-liter container under the hot water spout.

Shows up asWhat a Coffee Machine Error Code or Warning Symbol Means

A coffee machine error code may show as a short string of letters and numbers, a flashing symbol for water, grounds or the brew unit, a short sentence on a text display, or a machine that stops with one light blinking.

A Fulgor Milano built-in coffee system gets an in-home visit that begins with the tank, the beans and the grounds container before the machine itself is opened.

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Fulgor Milano's own guidance for PLEASE DESCALE! on its coffee machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Open the menu, choose DESCALE and follow the display: empty the tank, add Fulgor's recommended descaler and water, and place a 2-liter container under the hot water spout.

02

Let the program run through its pauses, about 30 minutes, then rinse and refill the tank with clean water when asked.

03

If PLEASE DESCALE! is still showing after a full cycle and rinse, book a visit.

Cleared?

The message is gone, and the machine grinds, heats and pours a full cup again with no new part. If it comes back within the week, or the descale or filter reminder returns straight after a finished cycle, say so in the booking.

What not to do

It is not a sign that anything has broken; the machine is asking for maintenance. Stopping the program partway does not count, because Fulgor requires the cycle to be started over from the beginning.

Questions
about PLEASE DESCALE!.

Can I clear PLEASE DESCALE! myself?
Open the menu, choose DESCALE and follow the display: empty the tank, add Fulgor's recommended descaler and water, and place a 2-liter container under the hot water spout.
How often will my Fulgor Milano ask to descale?
It depends on the hardness level set in the menu with the test strip in the box. Harder water brings the reminder sooner; a correct setting means it only comes up when it is needed.
Can I use any descaler in a Fulgor Milano coffee machine?
Fulgor asks for the descaler it recommends and says that using another product, or skipping descaling, affects its coverage. Vinegar and generic cleaners are not on its list.
Why does my Fulgor Milano still say PLEASE DESCALE! after I ran the cycle?
The most common reason is a cycle that was stopped before DESCALE COMPLETE appeared. Run it again start to finish, including both rinse steps.

Still showing PLEASE DESCALE!?

Three things make the booking useful: the message or number exactly as the display showed it, the full model number from the plate, and whether the machine still grinds and pours at all. Send those and the likely part can be looked up before the van leaves.
