Miele counts down the portions left before descaling and shows the number after each drink. When it reaches zero, drinks stop until the roughly 35-minute descaling program has run with two descaling tablets. The message is a maintenance step, not a failure.

Fill the water container with lukewarm water to the descaling mark and add 2 Miele descaling tablets, then refit it and close the door.
When prompted, rinse the container well and refill with tap water; if the message returns right after a completed program, book a visit.
Cleared?
The message is gone, and the machine grinds, heats and pours a full cup again with no new part. If it comes back within the week, or the descale or filter reminder returns straight after a finished cycle, say so in the booking.

This message does not mean the heater has failed. It also cannot be cleared by switching off, since Miele says no drinks can be made until descaling is done.
