The water tank of a countertop bean-to-cup coffee machine lifted halfway out of its bay at the side of the coffee machine, clear water inside, a plain cup on the drip tray grille.

What FILL TANK!
actually means.

JennAir's coffee system needs no plumbing; it draws from a reservoir filled by hand. A float in the tank tells the machine the water level, so a tank that is dirty inside can keep the float from moving and bring up FILL TANK! even when water is in it. The same text appears during descaling when the rinse water is due.

What to do when FILL TANK! shows on the coffee machine

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from JennAir's own guidance for FILL TANK! on its coffee machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Remove the tank, fill it with fresh water and push it in as far as it goes.

02

If it was already full, wash the tank with a damp cloth and mild detergent, rinse it well and refit it so the float moves freely.

03

During a descale, refill with clean water when RINSING FILL TANK! appears and continue.

04

If a clean, full tank is still not recognized, book a visit.

What not to do

FILL TANK! is not a sign of a water line problem, since the JennAir unit has no water line. It also differs from the GROUND TOO FINE message that can appear with it when the tank was lifted mid-brew.

Still showing FILL TANK!?

Three things make the booking useful: the message or number exactly as the display showed it, the full model number from the plate, and whether the machine still grinds and pours at all. Send those and the likely part can be looked up before the van leaves.
