The current 30-inch Minimal EB30MSB3 and Professional EB30PSX1 follow 24-inch EB24 models that the US site now marks end of line. All of them brew from a removable water tank, 81 fl oz on the 30-inch models, and we repair the whole range, from infuser and grinder work to milk system and heater problems.

What is particular
to Fisher & Paykel.

We repair the 30-inch EB30MSB3 (Minimal, black glass) and EB30PSX1 (Professional) and the 24-inch EB24DSX1, EB24DSXB1, EB24DSXBB1 and EB24MSB1. The 30-inch models use a stainless steel conical burr grinder with 13 settings and a thermoblock heater, while the 24-inch guide gives the same message set in capitals.

The dispenser is the door handle

To reach the water tank on a Series 9 coffee maker, you pull the coffee dispenser forward and the door opens behind it. A lower trim then drops to give access to the drip tray and grounds container, so the whole front works as a set of panels rather than one door.

Tray and grounds bin go together

Fisher & Paykel requires the grounds container to be emptied every time the drip tray comes out, even when only a few pucks are in it. Skipping that throws off the count and can let the container overfill and clog the machine.

One icon, six meanings

A lone exclamation mark on the screen stands for any of several things: a pending descale, a spent filter, milk tubes waiting for a rinse, or a timer or eco setting that has been turned on. We check the settings before treating the icon as a problem.

A lubricated infuser

The infuser should be soaked in plain water once a month, never washed with dish soap, because detergent strips the lubricant inside its piston. A dry infuser that squeaks or sticks is often the result of well-meant cleaning.

Fisher & Paykel sells water filters, accessories and some spare parts through its own US site; an infuser, grinder or thermoblock is matched to the model and serial label once we know which one has failed.

Repair or replace

The Series 9 coffee makers are young enough that most repairs, from the milk system to the pump and infuser, make sense. On an end-of-line 24-inch unit with a failed control board, it is worth comparing the repair with moving to a current model, keeping in mind that the 30-inch models need a wider opening.
