A stainless built-in coffee machine set flush in a tall wooden kitchen cabinet at eye level in a US home kitchen, a plain white cup standing under the coffee machine's twin spouts with a thin stream of espresso falling into it, a small dish of coffee beans on the ledge beside it, the coffee machine display dark or showing only plain digits, the cabinet doors around it closed.

Thermador coffee machines,
specifically.

Thermador builds one 24-inch built-in coffee machine for its Masterpiece and Professional kitchens and offers it two ways: the TCM24TS with a removable water tank and the TCM24PS plumbed to a cold water line with its own drain hose. The plumbed version adds a supply valve, an inlet hose and a drain run to every visit, so we plan those checks before the first screw is turned.

The Thermador lineup

What is particular
to Thermador.

We service both Thermador built-ins: the TCM24TS with a removable tank and the TCM24PS plumbed model. Both use ceramic disc grinders, a full-color display and an optional stainless milk container, and both share one error-code list.

A drain hose that must not be extended

The TCM24PS drains through its own hose, which Thermador lets you shorten but never extend by joining two hoses. Thermador also asks for some slack so the machine can be pulled out for service, and a hose cut too short is a common reason a visit takes longer.

A shut-off valve you can reach

The installation guide requires a freely accessible shut-off valve between the house line and the inlet hose, and water pressure between 0.5 and 10 bar. We close that valve before any work on a plumbed machine and check the pressure when flow complaints come up.

Steam rinses on the way in and out

Thermador's built-in rinses itself with hot water and steam when it is switched on and off. A puff of steam and a little water in the tray at those moments is by design, not a leak.

Clean & Descale in one run

Thermador names its combined care program Clean & Descale, and the display carries small symbols for each maintenance item. Letting the descale slide long enough brings a warning that the machine will soon lock.

Parts

Thermador sells filters, descaling tablets and the stainless milk container through its accessory store, and warns about counterfeit filters. Inlet and drain hoses, brewing units and boards for the TCM24 are ordered by model and E-Nr.

Repair or replace

A Thermador built-in is set into matching cabinetry and usually paired with other Thermador columns, so repairing a pump, a brewing unit, a valve or a board almost always beats replacement. A machine whose cabinet has taken water damage needs the leak and the cabinet looked at together before any decision.

Questions about
Thermador coffee machines.

Should a Thermador plumbed coffee machine have its own shut-off valve?
Yes. Thermador's installation guide requires a shut-off valve between the inlet hose and the house supply that stays freely accessible after installation. If water ever appears in the cabinet, close it first.
Why does my Thermador puff steam when I switch it on?
Thermador's built-in rinses its lines with hot water and steam as it starts and shuts down. Steam at the spout at those moments is normal; steam from the sides or behind the front is not.
Can I hook the Thermador TCM24PS to the hot water line to save time?
No. Thermador requires a cold, fresh water connection and warns against connecting it to hot water.
My Thermador drain hose is too short for the new cabinet. Can I join another one?
Thermador says the drain hose can be shortened but not extended by combining two hoses. A longer run needs a different routing, which we plan on site.
Does the Thermador TCM24 need any special outlet?
It runs through a transformer that sits in a mount behind the machine and plugs into a dedicated receptacle in an accessible cabinet next to it, and it must not be run on an extension cord.
